HONORARY MEMBER OF DELTA MU DELTA, CUMBERLAND UNIVERSITY CAMPUS

NASHVILLE, TN  (April 27, 2009 – Brown Dog CRM Consulting is proud to announce the induction of its Owner and CEO, Carol A. Smock, as an Honorary Member to the Cumberland University Chapter of Delta Mu Delta Honor Society. 

Delta Mu Delta is a business honor society that recognizes and encourages academic excellence of students at qualifying colleges and universities to create a Delta Mu Delta community that fosters the well-being of its individual members and the business community through life-time membership.  The organization was founded in 1913 by the Dean of Harvard University and four professors from Yale and New York University.  The Society was formally organized in 1952.  In 1963, Delta Mu Delta was admitted to the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS). 

Ms. Smock has served on the Advisory Board of the Labry School of Business and Technology since 2006.  “I am thrilled to support our next generation of businessmen and women.  And, I am especially honored to receive this designation.  I look forward to being more involved on Campus this year,” says Ms. Smock.

The ceremony was held at the Cumberland University Campus on April 24, 2009 and was presided over by Dr. Beverly Swisshelm, PhD and Mr. Terry Durham.  Dr. Swisshelm is an Assistant Professor for the Computer Information Systems (CIS) Program and Mr. Durham is faculty in the same program.  Dr. Paul Stumb, Dean of the Edward A. Labry School of Business and Technology, welcomed the inductees and audience. 

Smock addressed the Inductees with a speech titled “What my Dog has Taught me About Life and Business.”  She encouraged these highly achieving business students to learn from the “Alpha Dog’s” they serve, be loyal to the companies for whom they work, enjoy an exuberance for life, savor the moments and never meet a stranger.  The speech ended with five of her favorite quips, including the ever-famous Nike motto…  Just Do It.  “If the floor needs to be swept – just do it.  If coffee needs to be made – just do it.  And, when you are called to lead – just do it,” she urged. 

Brown Dog CRM Consulting provides customer relationship management strategies and solutions for area businesses.  Her proven programs and techniques have helped more than 130 companies throughout North America achieve higher customer retention percentages, which results in increased revenues.  The programs can be used by both the for- and not-for-profit sectors. 

Ms. Smock has published articles in the Nashville Business Journal and is a facilitator at Tennessee Small Business Development Center and is an active member of Donelson-Hermitage Chamber of Commerce as well as Mt. Juliet Chamber of Commerce.  In her spare time she is dedicated to the non-profit organization, Brown Dog Foundation, which helps families in crisis secure life-saving veterinary care and medications for their family pet.
